Today I’m writing at Babble about what to get for the person who (supposedly) has everything (including a visit to the Eiffel Tower and excluding 24-hour electricity).

Expats and those giving to them need to consider things like postal fees, shipping costs, luggage limitations, and more. We have received boxes of chocolates flavored by the candles in the same box, packages that arrived the October after the Christmas for which they were intended, and large stuffed animals that our children enjoyed for about four days and then cried over as they were left behind.

We’ve also received incredibly useful headlamps, carry-on suitcases, and delicious, luxurious food from ‘home.’ But no matter the gift or the timing or the shape in which it arrives, we are grateful every time.
